Triple - “C”
Middle School Soccer Guidelines
2014
1. National Federation rules (NFHS) will apply to all Triple - “C” sanctioned soccer games with modifications to meet league and middle level standards determined prior to league play.
2. Fall sports practice will not begin until the first day of classes at each school.
3. It is understood that all schools will have a 7th grade team and an 8th grade team. If a school has at least the minimum number of 8th graders, no 7th graders may play on the 8th grade team. A school is allowed to use only that number of 7th graders that will fill the 8th grade roster to the minimum number of participants for that particular sport. This same procedure and policy is true for 6th graders playing on 7th grade teams.
3. 8th grade games are played first (3:30) followed by 7th grade games (4:30). When only one games is to be played the start time will be 3:30.
4. 8th grade games will consist of two 30-minute halves, running time. 7th grade games will consist of two 25-minute halves, running time. Expansion team games will consist of two 25-minute halves, running time. In all cases there shall be NO overtimes and, in all cases, if only one game is played at a venue, that game shall consist of two 30-minute halves.
5. The Triple “C” supports the philosophy that middle level sports should provide maximum participation by all athletes. Athletic Administrators from respective schools should monitor this philosophy.
6. The minimum number of participants for both boys and girls teams is 16.
7. Substitutions may be made by either team on “throw-ins”, “goal kicks”, “corner kicks”, and “re-starts”. Players must be at scorerís table prior to ball going out of bounds.
8. Mouthguards and shinguards are required for play and no jewelry is permitted.
9. NEW RULE: All shin guards must have the NOCSAE approved stamp as of 2008.
10. EJECTION RULE for coaches and students - If a coach or student is ejected or disqualified from a game for unsportsmanlike behavior of any form, it will result in the suspension of that coach or student from the remainder of that game and the next regularly scheduled game.
11. Officials will be provided by the Western Maine Board of Approved Soccer Officials.
